2014/2015 XC Round Up
Wow, what a fantastic XC season! This year has seen attendance records broken, Finch race winners and more mud than you can shake a stick at. Congratulations to all 44 Finchies who ran in 1 or more of the races this season and special thanks the 5 heroes who ran them all: Enda Ward, Rhodri Jones, Jo Widdup, Emily Marshall and Steve Kelleher. In fact attendance was great this year with 21 Coasters running half the races or more. It was also good to see new members jumping straight in and getting their feet wet (quite literally) – thanks.
We have also finished in our highest overall position in the league ever. It looks like we will finish 5th in the league (up from 8th last year) with the ladies stepping onto the podium in 3rd. A special mention goes out to James Craggs for 5 top 5 finishes including a win at Handy Cross and Enda Ward for 6 top 10 finishes (all 8 were in the top 20).
Good to see many couple combos this year as well, with 8 pairings making a showing. To all of you who didn’t bring along a significant other, please try harder next year! And talking of next year, XC may be over for now but it will be back November this year on Remembrance Sunday. Stick the date in the diary and see you there!
